10 - Cuba: Siboney-Juticí

FIG. 1

Satellite image of the region along the Caribbean Sea immediately east of Santiago de Cuba. The city (in pale blue) sits at the head of the large harbor at the left center of the image. The town of Siboney is nestled above the triangular indentation of the coast at the lower right. The Sierra Maestra, and urbanized and agricultural lands, occupy the central and upper portions of the image. Siboney-Juticí Ecological Reserve, a narrow swath of flat, coastal terraces cut by two river channels, is visible across the bottom center of the image; it extends 12 km from the San Juan River (immediately east of the coastal airport) to Siboney.
